Question:
What if Black owns a duchy with 2 tokens, but Yellow has the Archbishop and converts one of Black's tokens reducing Black to just one token in the duchy, but both Yellow and Green have 2? Does Black just get 5 points and the duchy is unowned until someone can attach to it? Or does Black retain the duchy because ownership only changes when a single player has more knights than any other player?

Good morning
Many thanks for your e-mail and your interest in Reiner and his numerous games.
Thank you too for making us aware of what is indeed not explicitly explained in the rules:
As long as other players merely equal the number of knights of the
current duke in a duchy, nothing changes and the current duke remains.
A new duke may only be positioned if the player has more knights in
the duchy than any other player.
In the situation you describe, Yellow and Green do not merely equal the number of knights, but they supersede the number of knights of the Black duke. Black loses ownership of the duchy and receives the value of the duchy. Due to the tie between Yellow and Green, the duchy remains without owner.
