Tips on play for the Robert J. Simpson board game of 1984
  1. Don't drive the market higher or lower than 50 if you can help it, as this will allow someone else to make a huge profit.* (Perhaps 50 should be 25.)
  2. The best strategy seems to be to fortify strongly at home and to fill navies with 4 armies each and put them in the oceans where they will be safe.
  3. Don't bother with land aggrandizement.
  4. Buy L-Stars ASAP.
  5. Knocking other players out via conventional means is what counts. When attacking, don't forget that he can move reinforcements.
  6. *Take advantage of the fact that one can sell the market way down to make profits and then buy back for cheap all in one turn (if my understanding of the rules is correct).
  7. Play using the rules which specify costs to starting or restarting a company.
  8. *The first player should sell all 8 commodities to make $12G. Then buy 2 of each at a cost of $150M for a net profit of $11.85M.
  9. *The second player to sell 8 would make $1.2G and could buy back 5 at a cost of $15M and a net profit of $1.185G.
